iDEAL is a payment method allowing customers in the Netherlands to pay via fast and easy direct bank transfers.

#How it works

Steps:

1. At the checkout page, the customer chooses iDEAL as their preferred payment method, optionally filling in the Email address and Customer Name.

   

2. The customer is directed to a page to select their preferred bank:

   

3. They are then redirected to their bank’s online environment to log in with their account credentials:

   

4. After logging in, the customer can review their order information:

   

5. The customer then authorizes the transaction via Secure Customer Authentication, such as a PIN/TAN:

• Merchant's account: Merchants do not need to have an account with iDEAL.

• Payment method type: Asynchronous - payments are not confirmed immediately, it may take up to 30 minutes to receive payment confirmation. You need to set up webhooks to get notified for asynchronous payments

• Refunds: Supports partial and full refunds

• Recurring payments: Not yet supported

• Pre-authorizations: Not yet supported

• 0% Cashback: Not supported

• MOTO: Not supported

• Cancellation: Supports cancellation

• Disputes: Supported

• DCC: Not supported

• Surcharge: Not supported

• Tipping: Not supported

• Installments: Not supported

• Tokenization: No

• Restricted MCC: Some Merchant Categories are not eligible to have iDEAL activated

• Μerchant countries: Available for merchants registered in Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal & Spain

• Customer countries: Available to customers in the Netherlands only

• Pricing: Please refer to our pricing page under the main navigation for more information

• Settlement: Customer payments are deposited the next day into your business account for confirmed payments / successful transactions (i.e. have statusId = F)

• Cross-currency payments: Not yet supported

• Additional notes: The Email address and Customer Name fields within Smart Checkout are optional
